Vught, Van Kesselstraat 4

  • Type: House
  • Volume in cubic meters: 612 m3
  • Living area: 164

This detached wooden house by Finnlogs with attractive south-facing garden is situated in a quiet, child-friendly street. This is the first time the property has ever been on the market; in 1984, Finnlogs delivered a construction kit containing some 20,000 kg of Scandinavian wood to the site. There, with the help of family and friends, the current owners assembled the prefabricated house entirely independently, on concrete foundations. Although somewhat dated after 38 years, the house remains in excellent condition. The exterior of the property was recently repainted, with attractive balconies and blue window frames creating a fresh look.

As the photos show, this property is made entirely from wood, both inside and out. Being a renewable source, wood is an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient construction material. What’s more, living in a wooden house also contributes to a better environment, since the physical properties of wood lead to lower energy consumption. Wood actively breathes, is a good insulator of heat and sound and regulates the interior humidity. In a wooden home, you get to enjoy a comfortable and healthy indoor climate all year round. To put it simply, a wooden house makes you feel better! For more information about log houses, see the Finnlogs website: finnlog.eu.

The qualities of wood aside: if the abundance of wood internally is not to your taste, that’s no problem. With white plasterboard, the interior can easily be given a facelift, so that it perfectly matches today’s more contemporary style. We’ve reworked some of the photos to show just how modern and sleek this home could look.

Let’s take a look at the potential this property has to offer. From the drive, which has space for parking, you enter the house via the covered entrance. As soon as you set foot inside, the house seems to embrace you like an old friend. In the spacious entrance hall is the downstairs toilet, fuse box, extra storage cupboard and stairs to the first floor. A door to the left of the stairs leads to a study with an adjoining room. This could easily be converted into a ground floor bedroom with own en-suite bathroom.

To the right of the stairs is the door to the L-shaped living room, with its striking high ceiling extending up to the pitched roof. This creates an exceptional feeling of space. Right in the centre of the L is a large log burner which, incidentally, also heats some of the first floor via the warm flue (alongside the central heating, of course). A second part of the living room is set up as a home office. This area could easily be separated off with a (sliding) door, to create an extra TV room or play room. The living room also benefits from French doors, which open onto a large outdoor terrace.

On the ground floor, we would recommend replacing the kitchen, or even better extending it by knocking through to the adjacent garage. By incorporating this additional space, a fantastic kitchen-diner could be created. If desired, you could also add a covered outdoor terrace, so that on rainy summer days you can still sit outside and enjoy the beautiful garden. See the artist’s impression of the outside veranda with fireplace, plus the alternative layout of the ground floor that we’ve added to the existing floor plans. Or would you prefer a completely different layout altogether? As already mentioned, because everything is made from wood, it is relatively easy to change the layout. The options are endless!

The stairs to the first floor lead to a spacious landing, with access to three bedrooms, an extremely large bathroom and a sauna. Two of the bedrooms have their own balconies. Do you need four bedrooms? No problem: we’d recommend transforming the bathroom (which currently takes up a great deal of space) into a spacious bedroom, and converting the sauna into a bathroom.

Your new home is situated in a prime location in a large plot of 624 m2, with its own rear entrance and a sunny garden with pond. Because the house is positioned relatively far forward in the plot, it benefits from a great deal of usable outside space. The beautiful, south-facing garden gets plenty of sun and has several mature trees to provide shade on hot summer days. What’s more, the plot is large enough for an extension to the house, if desired.

This detached home is located in a quiet street with no through traffic, in this highly desirable town. Vught is town of human scale with a thriving community and an abundance of activities on offer. The location of the property within Vught is perfect: at sufficient distance from busy roads and the railway line, it’s an extremely quiet spot. What’s more, it’s just a five-minute walk from the house to forest and heathland, and a few minutes by bicycle to primary schools and sports clubs. All this makes the property ideal for an active family with a dog and/or children.

Vught North is also within easy reach of larger nearby cities and beyond: within a 10-minute cycle ride you’re in the vibrant centre of Den Bosch, and a 15-minute ride from Den Bosch station. Amsterdam is just an hour’s drive up the A2, and 1.5 hours by train from Vught station. With the rising popularity of working from home, we’re seeing more and more people ‘escaping’ the big cities to the haven of Vught.

In short, if you dream of living in a truly characterful home in a quiet and sunny location with a lovely garden in a fantastic area, contact us soon to make an appointment for a viewing.
